about me

I am a neurodivergent affirming practitioner who uses an integrative model of therapy. In a nutshell this means that my practice is influenced by a variety of therapeutic approaches, this enables me to create a ‘tailor made’ approach for each individual. Influenced by my own experience as a late identified autistic woman and parent to a neurodivergent child I am drawn to working with neurodiverse people or individuals who have neurodiverse loved ones.

I enjoy working with people with long established problems, perhaps ones they have not necessarily sought support for before.  I like to establish a connection with my clients, I feel that this is key and is in itself therapeutic and really effective.  From the point of creating a connection (often referred to as a therapeutic alliance) we can work together to notice and understand patterns of behaviour and thinking that may no longer be useful. Working in collaboration with clients adds a further element of uniqueness to our work, together we will identify and implement internal and external resources that the client can draw upon. I particularly love seeing the change in people, that moment when they realise that they are doing something differently and their awareness changes.  For me it’s an honour to be part of that journey.

I offer each and every one of my clients a safe space within which they can explore their concerns, within this space I respond with compassion and curiosity.

How long a client will be in therapy will vary and I’m happy to be there for as long as I am needed.   I also offer shorter term, focussed work and believe that I’m really effective at working at this quicker pace.  I feel it is my role to adapt to the needs of individual clients so if we can only work for a limited period of time that’s ok, we will work within that timescale.

I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
